Marine-i
Marine-i is an ambitious programme designed to enable innovation in the marine technology sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The sector has been identified as an area of high growth potential for the region. Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the £6 million project brings together expertise and key infrastructure from our partners: University of Exeter (project lead), University of Plymouth, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, The Cornwall College Group, Cornwall Marine Network and Cornwall Development Company.
The project is forward-looking and aims to help businesses embrace the emerging opportunities that will define the global marine sector to 2030 and beyond.
The project focuses on four interconnected themes: marine energy, marine manufacturing, maritime operations and marine environmental technologies, where Marine-i are on hand to stimulate and support research, development and innovation (RD&I) to help businesses exploit new market opportunities. The first Marine-i programme ran from 2017-end of 2019 and the current programme runs from Spring 2020 – 2023.
